Meet Dan

For years, I was caught in the grind, 60+ hour weeks, nonstop studying, and chasing career goals. But in 2021, I hit a low point, forcing me to pause and focus on my well-being. That shift led me to a new path, one of adventure, exploration, and freedom. Now, in 2025, I’m setting out on my biggest challenge yet: walking the entire 600-mile South West Coast Path, the first step in a journey that will take me across the UK and beyond.

Days 9 to 11: Drowned Rat Chic (Braunton to Westward Ho!)

Days 9 to 11 brought endless rain, soggy shoes, and unexpected kindness. From trudging along the tarmac estuary path to rescuing my feet with a £25 pair of waterproof shoes in Barnstaple, it was a lesson in grit. The grey skies followed me to Bideford, where a warm B&B and a kind host offered much-needed comfort. Finally reaching Westward Ho!, with dry clothes and lifted spirits, reminded me that even the bleakest stretches have their own quiet beauty.

Day 8: You Are Not the Pope (North Morte to Braunton)

After days of pain, doubt, and a slowly healing ankle, I limped my way through wild coastline, busy beaches, overgrown paths, and winding roads—finally reaching Braunton. A chance encounter at magical St Anne’s Church gifted me the lift I didn’t know I needed, and a message I won’t forget: “Don’t be holier than the Pope.” This journey isn’t about perfection—it’s about finding your own way. And that day, I did.
